Things to do on the Gold Coast

These are the best attractions Gold Coast has to offer.

Stretching from all the way from Coolangatta of the southeast Queensland area to Southport, the amazing vacation destination of Gold Coast is home to some of the most thrilling experiences. From nerve-wracking water sports to the wonderful view of nature, this place has everything you need for a perfect vacation. This place is often referred to as “Surfers Paradise” because of its vast collection of water activities and white sandy beaches. That’s not all, the coastal area is home to some of the most iconic skyscrapers, fully-equipped theme parks, and haunted houses.

Beyond all these crazy places, there’s also room for nature lovers and admirers. Behind all the tall buildings and amusement parks, there’s a brief touch of nature at the eco-parks and secluded beaches. Here are the most exciting activities that you can take part in at Gold Coast!

If You’re Looking For Sandy Beaches

When the name Gold Coast comes in anyone’s mind, the first thing they imagine is the magnificent beaches. The beautiful sun, snow-white sand and darker than blue sea create a rather unique view at these beaches. There are more than 30 beaches throughout the whole Gold Coast area.

1. Surfers Paradise Beach

I want to start with the Surfers Paradise Beach because of its 3-kilometre long beauty. Despite the skyscrapers still rising behind the beach, it has the best views you can get around here. Thousands of visitors roam around the beach and still the beach is surprisingly neat and clean.
The best thing about this beach is the variety of water activities. There are plenty of options for surfers to enjoy their time. The beach looks majestic at night with lights throughout the whole area. If you have had enough of the sun, you can go to nearby cafes or restaurants. The place is filled up with hundreds of stalls from bargain hunters throughout Sunday, Wednesday and Friday.

2. Coolangatta Beach

Another collection of the sandy white beach includes Coolangatta Beach near the border of New South Wales. This beach is much more secluded and peaceful than the jam-packed Surfers Paradise Beach. You can just soak in the sun in a peaceful environment for as long as you want to. On top of that, there’s a waterfront park just along the beach. In winter, this park offers sightseeing tours to spot dolphins and whales. If you’re looking to get some excitement, there are surfing spots and snorkelling options too.

3. Burleigh Heads Beach

Another famous beach in Burleigh Heads Beach. This one is exceptional because of its family-friendly setup. There’s a small park near the beach where you can enjoy some time off with your family in the picnic spots. The park offers options for barbecue and kids’ corner. There are options for swimming, snorkelling and surfing too. The beach is patrolled by lifeguards 24/7. This place has got something for everyone.

If You’re Looking For Thrill

The theme parks around the Gold Coast can be divided into two categories. One category includes nerve-wracking rides and the other category is filled with water parks. Also, two major companies own these parks. If you get a pass from one of them, you can visit and ride all of their parks and ride as much as you want to.

1. Dreamworld

Dreamworld is the kind of theme park that everybody must visit while they stay at the Gold Coast. This park comes with the most exhilarating roller coasters and rides. From live shows to the wonderful nature park, this theme park has got everything. You can sign up for the park tour to meet some of the local animals in their sanctuary. Visitors are also welcome to the Tiger Island to watch the big cats up close.

2. Movie World

Another one is the Warner Bros Movie World where you can meet your superheroes and get on the most exquisite superhero-themed rides. Visitors also enjoy special rides with 3D visualization. Stunt shows are a regular attraction of this theme park.

3. Sea World

If you’re on a quest to find an exciting water-based theme park, the Gold Coast will offer you some choice. Sea World is a water-based theme park with some of the finest animal stunt shows. With a wide space and variety of showcases, the Sea World offers many water-based sports and activities along with their special collection of trained dolphins, seals and sharks.

4. Wet n Wild

If you want to cool down and get wet but still want the thrill of a theme park, then you have to visit Wet n Wild. It’s the biggest and most extreme water park in Australia with huge water slides and rides. Don’t worry both Children and Adults can both enjoy this famous attraction.

If You’re Looking For Nature

If you’re a nature lover, the Gold Coast wildlife sanctuaries have many things to show you.

1. Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is a family-friendly eco-park with the friendliest environment. There are rainbow lorikeets who will eat right out of your hand while sitting on your arm, bird show with some trained and majestic birds, Adventure Park with a definite set of high ropes courses and many more exciting activities. You can play with the koalas and kangaroos any time you want to.

2. Lamington National Park

Lamington National Park is an hour's drive away from the infamous Surfers Paradise and home to some of the rare breeds of animals found throughout Australia. The preserving committee grants sightseeing tours throughout the park and there’s even a chance to commune with some of the friendly animals there. You can find the nature time you’re looking for throughout the tour. Even the huge collection of rare bird species will surely amaze you.

3. Springbrook National Park

Another fine collection of wild animals in their sanctuaries is seen in the Springbrook National Park. Visitors can camp through chosen spots in the park and picnics can be arranged for families. Sightseeing tours and bird watching tours are held at respective times at the park.

If You’re Looking For Luxury

With the increasing amount of skyscrapers around, luxury is widely available throughout the region.

1. SkyPoint, Surfer’s Paradise

The SkyPoint, Surfer’s Paradise is the place that can show the whole Gold Coast area through a window. Located on Level 77 of the Q1 Building, this is one of Australia’s tallest towers where residence can be found. There are an observation deck and a rooftop restaurant at the building too.

2. Cavil Avenue

If you’re looking for some shopping and exquisite entertainment, Cavil Avenue is the place for you. It was designed with a brief touch of nature and described with luxury. From street markets to brand shops, you can find anything around here.

3. Pacific Fair Shopping Centre

Now, if you really want a luxury shopping experience, Pacific Fair is the place for you. Designed with a beautiful outdoor area for both shopping and dining this place is one of the best shopping centres Queensland has to offer. We can forget the high-end brands who reside their like Gucci, Louis Vuitton and more to make sure there isn’t a brand you cannot own.

4. The Star Casino

Want more than shopping?, then check out the Star Casino. Only 1 minute away from Pacific Fair Shopping Center, this casino has amazing restaurants and rooftop pool bars. It doesn’t compare to Sydney and Melbournes Casinos but it is still a great casino and a recommendation for a night out in Broadbeach.
