ETHNIC HEALTH SERVICES

Ethnic Aged Care Project
Provide a package of services that can include personal care, light housework, laundry assistance, meal preparation, shopping, transport, showering/bathing, dressing/undressing, toileting, grooming, mobility assistance, monitoring medication intake and meeting social/cultural needs. Packages are funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing with the aim of providing an alternative to hostel care thus enabling older people with complex care needs to remain in their own home as long as possible. Bilingual workers provide services.

Health Information Program
Aims to improve the health literacy of newly arrived refugees and their capacity to take actions that will improve their health by providing information about the NSW Health Care System and community services. Includes group sessions run by Bilingual Community Educators who are trained, resourced and supported to provide this information. Also develops a range of multilingual resources.
